Default INSTALL: Harley Chopped Fender Light

Finally got my 48 delivered today...Helmet has not come yet, so I took it for a ride around the neighborhood and then decided to install the fender light I picked up last week...

Here is the light...got it online for about $70

First you need to remove the seat. Take out the phillips screw on the back. On the bottom of the seat there is a key hole type bracket that goes into a bolt on the bike. Slide the seat forward and pull up to remove. Then slide the seat back to remove the front part from under the tank

The side cover by the battery comes off by pulling away at the top, then it is hooked on the bottom.

Before installing the light, remove the ugly little reflector off the back. Then use goo gone or something similar to get off the adhesive residue. Clean the underside of the fender with rubbing alcohol.

I added some 3m adhesive strips to the back side of the light but it prob wasnt neccessary. Peel away thee backing on the strips and place the light in position. Firmly hold it down for a few seconds...

Route the wires along the left side of the fender to the hole that goes through towards the battery. I used a wire to fish it through the hole.

Secure the wires to the inside of the fender. I used adhesive tabs with slots for wire ties...the kit comes with some adhesive hooks, but I didnt trust them. Make sure you clean wherever you put any adhesive clips or they wont stick (this was the hardest part). I then used a wire tie to secure the fender light wire to the stock turn signal wire so that it could not pull back through and rub on the tire..

Locate the main lighting wire harness on the right side of the seat area.

Take the wire connectors that came with thekit and install the wires from the light into the quick disconnect. Hold the quick disconnect up to the female side on the bike to match up the wire colors...

Plug in the harness that came with the light to the wire harness on the bike and tuck everything away/secure with wire ties. Then re-install the seat and your done!!

I never got this. You already had 2 brake lights. Why add a 3rd? Or... why not remove the stock blinker/brake lights now? Really weird.

First off, im not removing the turn signals because this third light is just a tail/stop lamp-not turn signals.

2nd, why not add a third?? I nothing else, more visibility. Take a walk around your car, I gaurantee you have three...

does it function as blinkers also? would be pretty sweet to remove the stock turn signals if it does...

Looks too busy. Too many damn lights. I have a side mount brake with no signals and I hand signal. You just made the *** end super confusing. Sad mod IMO.

...and if you were concerned about visibility, you'd drive a car not ride a bike, so don't play games with that excuse, for real...
