Thanks guys! I plan on blacking the bike out, seems to be my thing I guess.... I don't plan on many, if any, long trips on it. I agree on ditching the sissy bar, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to pull the rear turn signals to get the sissy bar mount off. Is there a trick to it or am I just being ultra noobish? A set of drag bars, carb tune-up, spark plug change, front fork seal replacement, new front tire, and a few other things are on the short list right now, with more to be added I'm sure. I know the Trans Am is faster The sporty is for cruising, not racing, and getting better than 17mpg city like the TA gets. I'm in Fayetteville, AR so maybe I'll see a few of you around if you make it here for BBBQ in September.

Congratulations on your new ride. Enjoy the wrenching and post pics along the way.

There is a nut on the inside of the fender, back side of the turn signal pedestal. A wrench will be required. Back off the nut, and the lens body will start unthreading from the pedestal. You'll have to remove/loosen the rear fender trim (chrome on each side) to get to the second "nut" on the stud. Try this link:

Beat me to it ^

You might be able to sell your tank plus a trade. Someone might give you their tank and 50 bucks. Just a thought before you black it out

Thats a possibility, but my tank does have some pretty gnarly scratches near the bottom of it where it looks like the PO had a spike covered belt buckle that he dry humped the bike with from time to time.

Spent some time with it this weekend. Changed the oil and spark plugs, and I also hit the pipes with some flat black ceramic paint as they were showing some rust spots. I also plastidipped the front fender as I will be doing the tank and rear fender in flat black as well. It's not a huge transformation, but I think it is coming along nicely.
