If possible have your wife ride a bike with a windshield before dropping the big bucks on one, my wife and I both found windshields cause more buffeting than they cure. I tried at least 4 different shields on our bikes and ended up just selling them and going without.

The OL's '04 1200C with a Memphis Shades Del Rio. She's 5'4" and loves it. I'm 6' and the buffeting beats the **** out of me when I test ride her bike.

Harley Quick Disconnect, lightly tinted on my 883C. For me, buffeting over 50 mph. Lowers usually help a lot with eliminating buffeting. I tried riding with a windshield and I hated it.

What do you guys have? Like/dislike?
*** I am a chick rider and have a 2011 Nightster...I didn't have a windshield then one day riding in hard wind I realized I might need one "sometimes" ...I bought a HD quick release...it is off more than on but soooo glad I have it when I need it. yes...I think it looks stupid when it is on but I am not super big & sometimes fighting the wind was tough.

Just bought an HD quick release super sport for my nightster. I've been riding for 2 years without a shield, and I have to say the pros out weight the cons.

Pros
- really reduces drag on the chest. I love hitting the country roads on the weekends, but the wind here in Texas can be brutal without a shield. Doing 70mph with a 15 to 20 mph headwind w/o a shield sucks. Not sure why/how I did it for 2 years
- The thing comes off in seconds, no hardware left on the bike
- Didn't break the bank too bad. $315 bucks at the stealership, that's with the quick release brackets
- like the tinted windshield and height. The shield is 18" tall from the headlight. I'm 5'8".
- the look of it is actually growing on me. I like the narrow look for my specific bike (09 nightster)

Cons
- Thier is some buffeting behind the shield, especially with a half helmet with visor. But it's better than having an 80mph wind hitting me in the face. Remember you're on a bike, not sitting in a car.
- Not a huge fan of all the chrome. I may try to get some of the brackets powder coated down the road to compliment the the color of my nightster.
- Cross winds cut down on the effectiveness of the shield, but I can't imagine any shield that would help with that

Overall.... highly recommended. Like I said, you're still going to get some buffeting, but for me, it's tolerable.

This is an HD quick detach tinted. I like the look of the bike a lot better without it,but I guess I prefer comfort over style because it is on there a lot

I had the quick release touring windshield on my Sporty when I had it. The extra "bulges" on the sides took the wind blast off my arms as well.

Custom made by Kundratic Kustoms in Baltimore. It wound up about 3 inches taller than I'd have preferred and may in fact have it cut a bit. It is too tall for a bike with that short of a wheelbase, IMO.

I have the same one, but with the quick release. No complaints... I really don't like the look but it isn't horrible. I don't ride without it if I am hitting the highway for any length of ride over 65mph, it keeps off the big bugs, keeps the wind off my chest, and it makes a huge difference when it's cold too. Around town and over 45 degrees, I take it off.

Besides the look, the only downside I found is it reflects that sewing machine sound from the front of my engine back to me.
