The wrap I used was thermotec and so was the coating. Maybe I should have bought DEI. The wrap is advertised at 2000 degrees f but...? I was inclined to not change the AC based on the sound I was hearing but since I melted the cover I don't have much of a choice. I should note that the pipes were in direct contact based on the design with the AC cover which is plastic. So anyone with a stock AC on a 48, beware of this.
How much those bars set you back? Copper is the egg mcmuffin on bikes, IMO. I've heard good things about DEI. A lot of guys on here use it. Maybe Aaron48 will chime in. Never heard of the brand you used.
The bars set me back 3 bills and 7 weeks of aggravation waiting for them but well worth it. Hard to tell from pics but my seat is also copper plated with copper rivets from rich Phillips. Paint is coming next.!!! I could not find DEI copper wrap so that's why I went with thermotec.
To his credit, he was puking and crapping himself last week with the flu and still managed to get them in the six week time frame. I took most of my anger out on Nash with the bars so I thought I was pretty understanding. He would probably disagree.
Haha mine took 8 weeks even after I emailed and asked where they were after giving him the benefit of the doubt and waited 6 weeks. Then was told they were being sent out that week, well 2 weeks later hehe. Even though they don't exactly have their stuff ready for their customers in a timely fashion it was still worth the wait, they have some good stuff.
Ok. Dumb question but I have to ask. I have been riding the last few days without the air intake cover that was melted. This is not hurting anything, correct?
