Default Quick Question: Inexpensive Dust Cover

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has a quick recommendation for a dust cover for my Sportster. My bike is garaged, but I'm having the attic area above the garage converted to a bedroom and the sheetrock dust is going to be hideous and will be in the garage.

I don't want to break the bank buying one (I've seen 'em out there for like $150...no way!) but I also don't want to just drape a sheet over it.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. I've checked out Wal-Mart and Target online and they have some inexpensive ones but I also don't want to get something that's either not going to fit well enough to keep the dust out or which has an interior fabric with a rough texture.

Thanks.

Nelson-Rigg makes 1/2 covers. They are easy to use, compact and quality. Do a search and should find several. When I "tour" I dont carry my full cover anymore, I use the small quick on/off cover. $35 area

I have a bunch of the WalMart covers I use inside the garage. They work well...but I also use sheets.

+3 on an old bed sheet. They're breathable so you won't have any condensation problems underneath.

I've got a great Nelson Riggs for the X that was cheap but GREAT. OTOH, I bought another for the Sporty + gave it away. Size large just barely pulled over the front tire with no bags or shield. It was a DC-500 cover, don't buy it. Their other lt blu dust covers are great.

An old bedsheet would work fine. Stay away from the blue poly tarps, they will scratch the paint on your tank.

Check out http://www.openroadmotorcycles.net/. I have one and it works great for keepin the sun off of it as well as dust while in the garage.

cHarley made an excellent point. Breathable is huge! The cheap covers are moisture traps.
