Default Amateur lowering kit help!

Hey everyone,
I have been posting a bunch lately and as of this Saturday I will post pictures. I had a stock 2009 Iron that I completely overhauled the past few months. I ordered in an ABM 1" rear lowering kit with photo attached. Dumb question though....do I really have to put bike up on a stand or can I just unbolt one bottom shock bolt at a time and move it and put on bracket and then do other side. I just dont feel like spending money or time to get a stand. Opinions? Wasnt sure if I unbolt it how much play I would have if I do one at time. Thanks everyone! I am excited for everyones comments on bike in next few days when I post photos.

You will have a hard time getting these on without a jack stand. Be carefull with these as this isn't the best way to lower your bike. These are good for short term but I would suggest getting shorter shocks.

^^ wut he said, I've had them on my bike for a year now with no problem but I do plan on replacing them for a shorter spring/shock.

I had those lowering brackets also and decided they didn't look safe enough. I sold them the day after I bought them. Too much strain on the shock hanging off the back of the bike with those brackets. Before long the mounts will stress and crack like VirgeB's picture. Do it right and buy 10" lowered shocks like Licks cycles 2G or Burly shocks. I am putting the 2G's on my bike. Remember, this is your life riding on a little bracket! Cheap isn't the way to go. Imagine cruising down the road at 70 and hitting a pot hole and snap goes the bracket!

I put the exact set on my bike 3 or so months ago. Using a jack made the job much easier then a previous try without one. The bracket is well made and it contours to that area of the frame. I check it on a regular basis to see if it is functioning without cracks or getting lose from use. Before I put it on my bike I had my mechanic check it out and he found it to be a well made part. I live in New Orleans and the streets here are terrible I bottom out on a regular basis because the roads here or so bad and the bracket remains intact and I can see no fractures. I'm no engineer by the bracket seems to lay and run along the frame, may be wrong but it looks like the weight is still held on the frame. I like the product.

I've had them on the bike for about a year now with no problems, the bike looks great with them on since it lowers the rear fender n makes the tire look a little wider. I say if it's a temp thing go for it.
