Default More seat questions...opinions needed

So...not much luck finding a seat that will get me "up and back" far enough (6'8") so I'm thinking springer/bobber seat...4" springs..and fabricate a front hinge to put me back closer to the rear shocks.

Thoughts? do I need be concerned with getting "back" too far? Anyone done this type of mod, any tips would be appreciated...

From what I've seen...I would think you could take the front hinge piece..and add a piece of steel to extend it...then weld the back "nipples" onto the frame for the springs to sit in.

I think that, functionally, this would get me the most leg room and I really like the looks of the bobber style.

Any opinions are appreciated.

Somewhere I've seen some extensions (eg 2" over) for forwards. Or maybe it's a different set of forwards. I'm too short to worry about it, so I never looked too closely at them.

Perhaps that'd work?

I've got highway pegs now..which is where the forwards would mount...and I can't see where 2" would really help me much. If I sit on the passenger pad..it's too far back...I need my *** to be where the drivers seat curves up to the passenger pad..if that makes sense...

...not the ideal bike for my height...but the $$ was right...and I love the bike!

Could possibly consider getting a custom seat made? Might be pricey though.

streetfighter06 Said 6'8".... On a Sportster? Omg.... My first thought when I read your post.

FWIW - The Wide Glide I have now was previously owned by a real tall dude. It had 3" forward controls on it and he was comfy riding it all day long. I don't know what is available for Sporty's in the forward controls department, but moving yourself backwards that much probably wouldn't be as beneficial as extending your foot controls in front of you.

Just a guess.
