Iron or Nightster?!

^ I've said it before but you can get the same damn truck with different colors inside and out, with different size gas motor or diesel engines, but when it comes to these sportsters you get what they want you to get once you weigh the pros and cons of each.
I planned on getting a street bob a few times but there's just something about the sportsters that draw me back to them over and over... I'd like to have a sportster and street bob though.... I'd also like to have a crotch rocket, a sports car, a muscle car, dirt bikes, four wheelers, and maybe a boat and a couple jet skis with a jacked up 4x4 to pull them, etc... lol

I can see everyones points, but the Nightster just has something the street bob doesn't. Also, I've been told they are not good for two people but my girlfriend and I are a pretty small couple and I'm willing to upgrade the suspension and such to get a smoother ride. The sportster have the most versatility when it comes to customizing and thats what draws me to them.

+1 The stock Nightster suspension is very low, lowest rears in the sportster lineup. You'll want to get longer units if you want to 2 up. You'll also need to invest in a new seat as both those models come with a solo seat. I think that if you two are small an 883 with stage 1 should be fine. I would go with the one that makes you happy.

you will probably love your sportster, your girlfriend will love the looks and hate how it rides. I rode on the back of a sportster for 25 miles with an injured ankle , my wife was in the front. It was agony back there. I couldn't take it and got back in front messed up ankle and all because of the crappy rear suspension travel. If you do get a sportster instead of a big twin you will want to get better shocks rear, and springs to match the front end and a better seat. it can be done but will cost some money.

i know what you mean about the sportsters , i was drawn to the iron , but ended up with a nightster , its a nice enough bike , but i was always a little disappointed , I'm not sure why , but it just never really did it for me , but you will need 13" progressive rear shocks , a set of progressive fork springs + oil , and a new seat , mustangs are about the best for looks on a nightster , then you need rear peg brackets + fitting kit for a nightster and rear pegs , that should set you up for 2 up riding , but even though you say you are small , it will still be a squeeze , then if you need a bit of luggage , and maybe some camping gear , your out of room ,
nightsters & irons are bar hoppers really , you can easily make a street bob look more like an iron though , its only blacking out a bit of chrome and a set of bars , and you will have more room and a better ride for what you want it for .... but its your money and your choice , i hope you don't spend 3k trying to get it right and still find its wrong ,

They used to advertise it all the time, but does Harley still do the buy a new sportster and trade up in a year thing? You're supposed to get the full value you payed for it towards the new bike or something like that?
