Default Newbie with some Q's

Afternoon everyone, I've intro'd myself over in the new members area but I've got a few q's I am hoping I can get some help with!

I am having issues with getting my MOT over here in the UK as my Sportster has Screamin Eagle II pipes on it! I am looking over eBay for some standard pipes and there is a set from a 1200 - would they fit? The mountings look ok...?

Thanks in advance!

1200 pipes or slip-ons will fit, provided they're from the appropriate range of years. I'm sure you can go up to 2003 and at least as far back as '96. Units from 2004 and up won't fit.

Looking at the Harley website for a 2001 XL53C it says that the Screamin' Eagle slip-on muffler for your model is part # 80102-97
Fits '98-'03 XL (except 883R)
'92-'03 883 Hugger
'96-'03 XL1200C
'92-'03 XLs equipped with Profile® Low Rear Suspension P/N 54571-94A

So if your 2001 XL53C has this part number slip-on muffler 80102-97, any stock exhaust mufflers from the years mentioned above should fit. It makes sense that if the same slip-on muffler fits all these years, then the stock muffler from the same years would too.

Something like these might work

It looks like it.
I got this off of another website.

International numbers for a 1200C are:
Front - 65766-97
Rear - 65769-97

The above numbers were taken from the '98 parts catalog.

Long shot, but a mate of mine has some Fat Boy slips ons - I am assuming these won't be any good?

I "assume" you just need to pass a test and then you can replace the mufflers. If that's the case, try everything before spending money. The worst that can happen is they don't fit. Will your mate give them to you and let you "bugger them up" if needed?

I don't speak the Kings English very well, but I'm trying! Hell, I live in Georgia and we have trouble with all the languages.

LOL, he'll lend them to me but I don't want to bugger them up :-D (perfect wording BTW)...if the mounting holes aren't in the right place I am stuffed anyway...got a couple of avenues to try yet but I can all back to this rather than spend i hope!
