My Sporty Squeaks!
#11
Hope your problem is as simple as mine. Turned out to be the rubber isolators used to mount the tail end of my mufflers. Some have discovered fender mounts to be the issue.
Could be brake pad(s), they'll even squeak when they are in good shape. Could even be a caliper not releasing properly / completely.

Don't think it's the belt. My drive is on a slope - when I roll it down sitting on the bike, it squeaks. Could it be the hubs where water has drizzled in? Would a spot of WD40 round the hub rim help or might it seep inside and break down the grease? Brake binding is another likely cause, I agree. Not very mechanical myself - if it cannot be easily cured I think I will let a mechanic see if he can sort it. Thanks for your input so far guys.

get a green scrubby, latex gloves, and a can of brake cleaner. douche the brake rotors and clean it with the scrubby (while wearing gloves). don't get the cleaner on paint or anything thats supposed to be lubricated (bearings).
you might have a hot-spot on the rotors. this is caused by hard braking to a complete stop.. and holding the brakes. pads will deposit material onto the rotor in this condition. the best way to avoid it is to brake early and not hold the brake at a stop (if possible). under normal braking, this isn't a real big problem.

I did a lot of traveling last year. Work work work. I barely put 2k on the sportster and 5k on the buell. This year i'm avoiding that situation at all cost.
