I would say a windscreen and a good seat are most important.

Windshield is a must. Get some sort of throttle assist as well. Your right hand will be in pain if not, trust me!

I did 1650 miles Maine to Florida in 24 hours in a cage when I was 20. Averaged was 66mph with a 300 mile fillup. 2 of us shared driving, cruise set on 85 and only stopped for gas.

It can be done on a bike in theory but damn you would have to really be on that throttle. You would have to average 69 mph and with the shorter range between gas stops, ouch...

Over the past 7 years my average day when going over 400 miles from home is just at 300 miles.

Been several 500 and 600 mile days along with several 150 mile days...

or you can install one of these,

1. http://www.protac.net/

2. http://www.utpr.com/sportster1200xl.html

with full lower back support the wind wont bother you, i think it looks better too,

doesn't stop the bugs though.

I've averaged 150 miles a day on a trip and I've averaged 350/day. Usually, the 150 mile days are more fun. I feel like I'm being punished for previous transgressions when I have to ride on the highway. Sometimes you gotta do it.

hahaha...this forum would not be the same without you SF. You can be an ******* sometimes, but more often than not I get a kick out of your straight forward style of posting.

Before you call someone a liar please check out the site! Apparently you have not or tried a long distance riding! I have a FLHTK 2011 that is 6 gallon and have 2 reda 1 gallon each on my saddle bag reserve some people that are really hardcore long distance rider have a Auxiliary Gas Tank on their bikes. On your avatar it said road warrior, you should really check out the site www.ironbutt.org and see alot of people have done more than 1,500 miles in 24 hour or less Anyone here have done iron butt? Please let this guy know it can be done, am pretty sure someone here have done it. Its useless arguing with someone that has not
thoroughly research things before calling someone a liar. I will leave it to that and I am pretty sure somebody had done longer in 24hours. Peace and ride safe!!!
