Isn't it clear that since the OP new one of the guys that they put her up to it. And if your gonna ride a Sporty you should expect a little badgering. It goes with the territory.

 

Yeah sum day, when I come up with 27 grande, I will buy my dream bike, soft tail deluxe, but until then I will ride my sporty. Funny how I rarely see girls riding a sporty and when I do they don't ride it like they stole it nor do the guys with all the money who buy a bagger bike and ride like a girl.. MMMM..And why is a sporty considered a girls bike?

I got my third sportster back in 94 my wife at the time (R.I.P. baby) used to ride it all the time. She was a way better rider than I ever could have been . She grew up riding dirt bikes . I was proud that she could ride on her own and out ride me. Sportsters are too cool for stupid people... that is why most idiots dont ride one. Once when I got hurt on a road trip she took over riding duties and I rode on the back for 100 miles to the nearest clinic. I have been lucky with bikes and with women... troublesome though they are there is always something to love about them both. Forget about idiots and just smile and have fun on your bike. And if it really pisses you off just remember the words of Achmed the dead terrorist: " Silence" !! " I keel you" !!

 

Umm don't generalize I put 27,000 miles on my sporty in two years. Including a 14 state trip with 4700 miles. I agree sportys are only girls bikes when a girl owns one. BUT don't think that girls who ride sportys or anything else don't "ride it like you stole it". So don't put down girls who ride. It is the same as people who rag on sportys.
If you are in the US then a deluxe won't cost you 27k. Having just bought a brand new 11 deluxe with all the bells.

 

Agreed. If it bothers you that sportys are labeled as a chicks bike then move on to a big twin. Sporty riders will always hear it.

 

as we speak about "chick's bikes", I guess a WW2 era WLA/WLC with its 750cc is a chick's bike either? Or a 1965 1200cc Electra is a chick's bike also?

Best I've read on here, was that "Street Bob" guy telling to a sporty guy he'd better buy a real motorcycle! Yeah right!

I wanted to make clear that it didn't bother me. I thought it was funny, and wanted to share the story. After thinking about it more, I agree with the poster who said my buddy probably egged her on to do it. I love my Sporty, and I will love it more when I'm done modifying it. It's a great bike that is fun to ride.
