Welcome!

If you can find a 1200, it not only delivers more power, it has highway gears if you're planning on going on some of those runs.

Hello and welcome -- good luck! I would just suggest really looking at the different bikes...sit on one ride etc...I wish I did that but I really had my eye on the Nightster!! -- $5000 you should be able to find a nice used bike.

Thank you so much everyone for the warm welcome... I really appreciate it

A quick question out of curiosity... If I get a Sportster 883 or 1200, if I maintain either one very well and change oil regularly etc... how long will the bike last me? I mean how many miles can Sportsters go until approximately?

Hey buddy! Up here at my local dealer, they have 4 sportsters for 5K or less sitting on the floor!

As for how long they will last? I have a friend I ride with who has 71,000 miles on a 1200C and has done nothing more than regular maint. That is the highest milage one I have personally know but I'm sure there are higher. Point is , with good maint, they should outlast you.

If properly maintained, it will out last you. There's a member here with over 150K miles on his sporty. Mine is 13 years old and has not needed anything other than basic maintenance.
