Default Getting a Speedometer Reprogrammed

Hey Guys,

I recently purchased a speedometer off ebay, (being that my bike did not come with a speedo). When I bought my bike, the title said 10,000 miles. When I powered up this ebay speedometer, it said 25,900. I have called a couple harley dealerships, explained the situation, and they said they will not send a used speedometer to the factory for a reset due to odometer fraud. Is there anything else I might be able to do, or am I going to be stuck with having to buy a new one from harley to get the right miles on the odometer? Thanks for the help guys.

Big bucks going through HD. Better off buying another one on ebay closer to the correct mileage. Is the stated 10,000 on your title noted as actual or estimated? In my state estimated mileage is impossible to clear or remove from a title. If estimated it really doesn't mater what your odometer reads.

It was stated as actual miles.

Cool. Then I would resell the one you purchased on ebay and buy another closer to the actual stated miles. Problem solved

Would one from an 883L work? I am assuming they are the same part number? This one I found has just over 10K miles on it...would be perfect.

Alright, the guy gave me the part number off this one that has closer to 10K on it. 67406-04. Does this sound right? I am under the assumption that only 67436-04 and 67436-04A work for my bike. Would anyone be able to confirm if the 67406-04 would work for my 2006 XL1200C?

I think you're good. I don't think the part # for the speedo changed until '08.
