Default factory aluminum timer cover ??

Hey all! I did try the search function, with no success. My sporty has the aluminum primary and sprocket covers, not the chrome ones. I'd like to replace the "5" on the r/h side with an aluminum cover that matches the rest of the aluminum. Is there a sporty model that has an aluminum cover that would work? TIA

That part with the '5' on it is called the Timing cover. As far as I know, all of the models have the same cover. You can easily replace just that cover, just drill out the rivets that are holding it on. You can replace it with almost anything that is the same diameter, and just drilling 2 holes in it to hold it on after tapping the holes where the rivets were. (Or just replace the rivets) There is nothing behind the cover so there are no worries about oil leaking out or anything poping out from behind the cover when it is removed.

Correct. I was hoping to find something of the same material and finish tho. Spent a few hours googling with no success as well...

Just called the local dealership, no such creature available from them. Back to googling.

Wrong! It's called the "Timing Cover" because that is where our, (pre-EFI), timing sensor/module is. However, just removing/replacing the cover will not harm your timing.

What I meant was, that there were no "Jack-in-the-Box" surprises.

They're everywhere....Put Sportster timing cover into google or ebay and I'm sure you'll find something you like. There's more options out there than you can imagine. Mine has a bottle opener on it.

Here's one like you may be looking for. If the chrome is too much just scuff it with a scotchbrite pad.

I agree, there are indeed several of them out there. However, none that seem to match my polished aluminum look. Just being too picky I guess. I did find one at azece.com and I've left him a message regarding coloration. We shall see. Thanks to all of you so far tho!
