Default Why is my rear wheel not centered?

Over the summer i noticed my turn signals were not working. after looking into the problem i realized my tire had rubbed through the wiring on the right leg side. i bandaid the issue and road until now where its time to address the problem for real.

after i looked into the problem, here is what i have found.

on my right leg side the gap from the tire to the outside of the fender is 1/2 inch. on my left leg side the gap from tire to outside of the fender is 1 inch. WTF?!?!

Here is right side

Here is left side

what could be causing this and how do i fix this. showed the dealer and the service guys guess was "maybe the bike has been dropped and the fender is out of whack".

dont think so. my fender is perfectly straight.
so now what?

When is the last time you had the rear wheel off the bike? Maybe a spacer was left out? Are the spacers different sizes for the HD? Maybe they were swapped?

Mine's the same way. Don't know why, but it's always been that way. I've learned to live with it.

Mine is off a bit, too - but damned if I can find anything wrong with it.

BTW, it is also off on my vrod - but the fender is centered on the wheel - the swingarm and shocks are off center. Only notice it when I put on my saddlebags.

Can't you zoom in a little closer?

I think if he was any closer he'd be on the other side. And a lot of bikes run the back tire off center from the front.

Ok, so mine is a little off too but not that much.

1" on the right side and 3/4" on the left

If your belt is running straight on both pulley's then I say that's where it's supposed to be.

It may not be the wheel but the fender that's off center. Check your fender struts to make sure they're both straight. I had a similar problem with my Softail after getting rear-ended last year. The frame strut was okay but the chrome fender strut extension was bent forcing the fender to one side. I'm not that familiar with the Sporty's so I don't know if that's even possible but something to check if it is.

On my bike, the rear tire alignment is right on the money, and the spacers are correct. I don't think mine is off that much, maybe a difference of 1/4 to 1/2 inch, but everything is the way it's supposed to be. On another note, I just noticed when the front wheel is straight, the speedo, which is behind the handlebar clamp on the custom, is not in line with the gas cap. Don't know which one is right, and don't really care. Go figure...
