Default My new project

I brought my 99 1200 home a couple weeks ago. Battery's good but I was getting no power. Finally got my Clymer manual in the mail today.
Digging through the book I see I'm missing things in the electrics. And the battery's wired in backward (positive at the front). And I'm still trying to figure out why there's extra holes drilled in the back plate of the air cleaner.
I knew the previous owner. Let's say he was a bit of a "tinkerer". Unfortunately he's not around anymore to answer my questions.
I expected a project when I brought this home, but it's looking like this is gonna take a lot longer than I expected.

The extra holes in the air cleaner is a cheap air cleaner mod for more air flow......

Sounds like you have a mess on your hands, but with some time and work I'm sure it can be a nice bike.

Some aftermarket batteries come with their terminals reversed, as oppsed to factory Harley.

Well it turns out the battery was so bad it was telling the battery tender something weird. New battery and it started on the second crank. Whatever the PO did, I guess he did it right. Color me stoked.

Also I know batteries can come with the posts either way, the part that strikes me as odd is that the previous owner wired it to accommodate such a battery.
