To a top end rebuild: 50k-80k or so.
Bottom end: Usually pops up somewhere around 100k plus or minus.
Like you said, a lot of it is dependent on how hard you ride, conditions, and how well it was maintained. You can need a rebuild at 20k if all you do is redline it, or not until 80k if it's straight up smooth sailing.

The EVO engine is a brick house, nothing like the Ironhead that preceeded it. As Scuba10jdl said, it all depends on how you ride it and take care of it. I know of the Sportster EVO engine going 140,000+ miles without any rebuild, and I also know of some 60,000 mile rebuilds that were necessary. Treat it like you own it, not stole it, and it will run a long time with no major problems...
