I.ve owneda boatload of Yamahas over the years (starting with a 1964 YDS250 in the late 60's). The XS650 was my favorite ofall, and they make great bobber projects!
That Stryker is hideous. It looks like a typical Japanese "anime" attempt at copying a Harley. Not quite as ugly as a Rune, but ...
Ever wonder why Honda, Yamaha, et al try to take their styling cues from Harley, and not the other way around?
The only new thing from japan I think even comes close to look like a sportster (the 883) is the Honda VT 750s. It even has the smaller tank, mid controls and the more upright seating position.
" Yamaha finally has something to Compete with a Sportster"
No they haven't
The old XS650 was the best!
My very first bike was a new '69 XS650, the first year Yamaha built 4 cycle machines. It was absolutely AWESOME, blow the doors off the AMF Sportys, but when you parked alongside a Sporty, looked like death suckin on a life-saver.
