Elecrtical issue... help!!
#11
Hey fellas... first of all... many thanks for all your best wishes and your input in trying to solve the issue with my sporty.. this was a "turning point" kind of weekend.... I was stranded at the dealer 300 miles away from home, the guys at the service center did their best in trying to solve the issue... but unfortunately there were no replacement parts available in either of the nearby dealers... my only alternatives were to rent a car, go back home.. wait until it got fixed, then rent another car to come back and pick it up... or rent a truck and tow it back to Miami and get it fixed... in the meantime I was just wandering around the show room like a zombie thinking about my poor sporty and the upgrades I wanted to perform in order to survive another ride to Sturgis ( upgrade front and rear suspension, new comfortable seat and a new rear tire )... and well (you are going to kill me for this.. LOL ) ... while at the showroom a brand new 2011 Softail Blackline got my attention.. it was reduced to $13.500 ... the sales guy kept bugging me about trading the sporty in and get the Softail.. I thought.. "well.. it does not hurt to run the numbers" being bored out of my mind it seemed like a fun way to spend my time... numbers came out decent which got me thinking about the fact that I only ride long distance (pretty much no commuting miles on my sporty) and how painful it was to ride my sporty with stock suspension and spring seat to Sturgis.. . little did I know that I was about to ride back home on a brand new 2011 Softail Blackline !!!...
It was sad to leave my little evil badass monster Sporty behind ... it was a hell of an attention grabber and a ton of fun to ride.. but in my opinion a softail with the much better suspension and softer running engine suits my long distance riding style much better... of course.. it won't be long before I convert this softail into a bare-bones, dark and loud ride.. :-)
You bet that I will hang out in the Sporty forum section and enjoy the posts and try to be helpful if possible, and do not hesitate to PM me if you get questions/offers or for a quick hello...
I already broke in the engine.. in fact I put 800 miles over the weekend on the softy.. first thing I got to do is remove the freakin' reflectors!!... second is to try to make it loud.... I can't stand the quiet stock pipes!!..
Happy riding my friends !!!

wow....what a sad way to end this friendship between you and your sporty but it's your wallet my friend, i aint gonna tell you how to spend your money. if you like the softy then i'm glad you got what you liked. sad to see it end like this though, bike failure and you leave it at the shop and drive a new bike home. sad sad sad.....lol.

I hope the new owner of the sporty has as much fun as I did..
and this softail aint bad at all!!... it does not feel heavy.. and with the skinny front tire it is easy to handle... I am willing to bet you'll like what I do with it when I am done... :-)
