Default dumb question

My sporty is pretty filthy, i have not washed it since I bought it. There is a lot of road grime/oil all over it. I wanted to blast it with my pressure washer, but I am unsure if this will destroy the bike. Has anyone pressure washed their bike? Did it cause any damage or effect the bike at all? I always blast my dirtbike with the washer and no problems, But I am a little wary to blast the sporty....let me know, Thanks.

I recommend you don't! By all means use it with a spray, but not at full blast. There are too many places like wheel bearings and electrics that water can get into. Your dirt bike is likely to be much more resistant to a pressure washer than your Harley!

If you can use your pressure washer at a low gentle pressure that should be fine, just don't use it at full blast, like your clearing moss off the yard! I have a pressure washer but would never dream of using it on my bikes, I don't reckon they are up to it!

Can't tell you how many times people have cut the belts on their riding mowers with a pressure washer...stand back and be wary.

If you must use pressurized water, try just using a garden hose attachment or something low pressure like that. The high pressure water has been known to get past bearing seals and destroy them inside out.

Isn't a "magic" eraser like 1800 grit sandpaper?
