$8? Ouch. Just remember the letters are kinda small so you don't want a huge tip on the pen or else it won't come out very clean.

Gonna have to swing through Walmart first then and see what they got. I don't think the tip is too big on the duplicolor pens. They're made specifically for the lettering on the tires.

HERE how many coats did you end up putting on the letters? I know when I did each of mine, I put about 5 coats on them. I read on another thread before I painted them that if you do about 4-5 coats, they'll stay white. Any less and they'll fade to a brownish color. I had mine painted for a year before I had to touch them up again.

I did 2 coats...honestly I kind of liked the brownish look that I've seen on them. Kinda gives them an aged look.

That's true, definitely goes with the look of the firestones. I guess I'm more of an attention wh*#$ and had to make mine super bright lol

Thanks, the Firestones actually are going on one of my project bikes, not the sportster though. Although I do eventually want to get a set of Firestones for this bike once the stockers are worn out. Probably getting close at ~10,000 miles on them so far.

72 XS650 chopper. This is the most recent pic I have but it's not very accurate. It now has attack bars, black wheels with the Firestones, and a few other odds and ends and once done and I have a few shake down miles on it ill paint the tins.
