Background story: I have a 02 883C.

Today I was at a birthday celebration with some fancy people. I was talking to a lady who is in her 70s when we heard a guy on a Nightster parking his bike outside. The lady, out of the blue said "I wish I had a gun to shoot him." I turned around and asked her "why would you say that?". She replied "This guy pretends he has a Harley. He just rides around the neighborhood and makes so much noise...he doesn't even have a real bike and he does not work." I was fraking overwhelmed by what she said. A friend of mine told me "Maybe you should not mention that you have a bike." So I told the lady "he is actually riding a Harley." To what she said "yes but it's a small one, not a real Harley like the big ones." I was laughing inside me and told her "of course this is a Harley" and she interrupted and asked "why do you have one?". I said "Yes I do, the exact same one." And she turned away.

I was not going to explain to her the difference between the Nightster my 02.

 

I would have laughed in her face. like i laugh at anyone else who tells me i have a girls bike or my bike isnt a real harley. keep in mind everyone who i've ever heard any of that **** from doesn't own a vehicle with less than 4 wheels, let alone a motorcycle that you can actually drive on the road. everyone sucks, even 70 year old ladies. -end rant-

 

Thats funny...sounds like something my mom (bless her) would have said. she grew up with flatheads, knuckles and panheads.

 

Should've broken her hip.

 

If it's not a Harley....then who made it? G.E. ??

I had a helluva lot of fun "pretending" to ride a Harley all weekend!

 

Take it for what it's worth - nothing! IMHO - It's OK for another biker to bust your chops, in good fun, (girls bike crap) and just plain ignorant of everyone else. Let her have her moment of - whatever - and move on.

 

Kind of reminds me back in the 70's I had a Ford Pinto, and a certain older person used to ask me when was I going to buy a real car, out of respect I never really said anything but always thought to myself because I didn't want, and at the time couldn't afford a big gas gussler (gas had just started going up, and there were shortages, anybody remember the oil embargo), what made my car not real. Hey to each his own, I like all HD's big or small they all serve a purpose, and all that I've ridden are fun.

 

And Voony, you need to work on your pick-up lines. You didn't do too well with that babe.
