I ride a Sporty (as you can imagine) and I never had a doubt it was a real Harley. Sounds like one at least

Her current ride is probably a mid eighties GM front wheel drive shitbox, and she eats Wendy's double doubles while she's driving it.

Last time I checked the Sportster was on the HD website and also is the longest running name in HD history or maybe all ove automotive. I mean even the Vett took a year off in 1983.

Longest running name in all of automotive history goes to the VW type 1, the Beetle, 1938-2003.

My wife started her riding career on a Buell Blast. That is a 500cc bike. The joke was that it was "half-a-Harley" I thought that was kind of funny since the engine was basically half of a sportster motor. Wonder what the old cow would have said about that bike? Especially after I put a V&H pipe on it....It served the purpose well, and got over 60 MPG!

I would have encouraged more conversation with her along the lines of, "what model do you prefer and ride"? :-)
