Default Sportster 883 to 1200 Conversion

I'm on my way to convert my 883 to a 1200 and I am looking around the internet for a step-by-step document or video of the process. Anyone here know of a good site with conversion-info? Must be somewhere since so many have done this.

There are more than one answers to your question, so you need to be more clear just what you are proposing to do. In any event you should get a factory service manual.

Harley does a conversion kit, which includes 1200 cylinders and pistons, plus cylinder heads, which will come with instructions. That is the expensive route. As an alternative, on older bikes you can rebore your current cylinders to the larger size, fit suitable pistons (NOT stock 1200cc ones) and rebuild, which is a lot cheaper. For recent bikes the cylinders can't be rebored that much, but you can replace the cylinders and pistons and use your current heads.

Read through earlier posts here on this (there are plenty) and identify which conversion you want more info on.

I'm putting in bored 883 cyl and using the 883 heads. It's just that and rejetting the carb. Not doing any cams or heads work. the bike already has Stage I SE air intake upgrade and SE slip on mufflers. I already have the service manual and the Sportster Performance handbook. What I'm looking for is pretty much just some pictures of the process.
But thanks for your advice, I'll browse this site some more. Did the search and came up with little.

I'd consider NRHS 1250 kit instead. It seems they have it on sale now.

If you search this Sportster forum for 'NRHS' you'll find most of the recent ones!

So, I've done a simple conversion. Changed out the cylinders and pistons but kept the 883 heads.

Anyone know for how many miles I need to break-in the new cylinders and pistons?
