Anyways, why did I see 80 and 220 grit in that one pic? Those are uneccesary grits for what you're doing.

On a side note - I didn't know this was a rattlecan job. So I am assuming the clear will not be as thick as a real urethane I've sprayed cars with.... therefore, depending on how many coats you did (tell me) I would start and end with JUST the 2000 grit to avoid sanding through the clear.

Also, what you need to use is 3M cutting compound. I don't know what brand that glaze is, but that should be after you use compound.
lol...xbox. I need to reactivate my WoW account.

I used the 80 and 120 grit to do the initial smoothing of the mud. I just threw them in to illustrate everything I used from start to finish. Come to think of it I forgot to put the can of "bondo" in the pic.

Actually, I did start the sanding this evening. Sorry. But so far it seems to be working fine. I've got almost all of the orange peel off (some very small spots here and there) and there still seems to be plenty of clear (no black or orange paint on the paper and the residue is still all white). I did five full coats of clear so I think it's ok. I don't know Street. The guys at the autobody place where I got the clear said the stuff was good to go after 12-24 hours. I've got the rear fender and the tank mostly done. I roughed it out with 1200 and when most of the orange peel was gone switched over to 2000. I started with the 2000 but the clear is pretty hard and the 2000 barely touches it. I did decide today to buy another can of clear and do another couple of coats when I get everything smoothed out, just to make sure there's enough, especially near the edges. That's going to sit for at least a week or so. The glaze I've got is 3M, but I will get some cutting compound. Thanks for that tip.

I appreciate your advice Street. So far things seem ok. If it turns out shitty I'll just redo it. I've given up thinking this is going to be done anytime soon.

There'll be a big celebration here to, my friend. Thank you for the support.

He already chastised me about that. But...it IS Bondo.

Yeah, bondo is a brand. Refer to it as body filler or mud like you said. Hahaha

What I use for filler...

Polyester, shrinks less and much easier to work/sand.
