Haha I thought I was the only person who still said "video tape"

Man, I gotta say... I would always see the "Winter Makeover" thread regenerate to the top of the sportster list and wonder to myself "what the hell kinda seasonal makeover requires hundreds of posts" until I poked my dome into the room and saw what was going on. It's like a party you're not invited to... I just wanted to peek in the windows to see what the hell was so cool.

So now I have to go back to the very beginning. One does not simply start watching a movie like Scarface towards the end if you've never seen it... you have to be patient and let the anticipation build!

I truly appreciate someone that is as dedicated to his passion as you are my friend. Don't ever let that go, it's a gift ... and a curse Mwahahaha.

I look forward to seeing the final product... But for now i'm going to make a fresh drink and tell my wife that I'll be starting MY new book tonight called "50 Shades of Nightster".

As you were...

Thanks very much Kaput. Video tape...ya, stuff like that slips out without even realizing it, dating myself. Thanks for pointing that out.

Now, out to the workshop to carry on with the painting...

Just finished putting the final coat of clear on everything. It looks pretty good, so far. This has been a long week of painting and sanding, painting/sanding. All in all I am pleased with my efforts and the results, so far, given that I have never done this before. It's been a complex sequence using the three colors, stencils, vinyl decals and now clear coat. Doing this in my little workshop with nothing but some plastic strung up to try and keep the dust to a minimum...I've learned a lot. There are some small defects/blemishes. I am not surprised by that and I am still hopeful that they will not be very noticable, except to me of course.

I don't have time to post pics today but should have time tomorrow. I have been taking a lot of them and will post up a long and detailed explanation of how I did what I did and why. I'm going to let this clear dry for a good 48+ hours before I start the final finish process of wetsanding with 1500/2000 grit followed by polishing.

Ok, 1 pic:

Zombie Apocalypse? Hell yeah!

Don't sweat the imperfections in the clear, they will all rub out with the wet paper you got. I hope you cut the clear with a cotton pad and then finish with a foam one if you got them. I've had a lot of issues with "die-back", so if it were me, I'd wait 2 weeks to scuff and buff.

I like how you did the lettering on the tank OEM style. If I didn't pay CLOSE attention, I wouldn't have even noticed you changed the name.
