Sorry I didn't get back right away Crusade. I've been off line for a few days. I was in the shop until 3am with Ozzie working on the bars and I'll update on that soon, hopefully.
As for Vulcan, FlatIron is right, the owner there is hard to dael with. I did describe my dealings with them several places earlier in this thread, but suffice to say the triple clamps are good quality and if you luck out like Rick did and get all the right parts the first time, you'll be golden. It's a good quality kit and everything you need will be there, less the wheel/tire. But if not, like me and FlatIron, you might have a hard time getting it right. I ended up modifying the second (wrong) axle he sent me instead of sending it back and trying for a third. But I had access to a lathe...
I hope to update on the bars later or tomorrow. We made some progress. At 3am Friday I through a coat of primer on them and will try to get over there sometime this week to do the gloss black. With any luck I'll have them mounted up by the weekend and we'll start wiring them with the internal throttle. The whole bars thing has been quite a challenge.

Here's the work we did on the bars Friday night. I spent a few hours grinding all the excess metal off of them so they are as small as I think they can be. That's another idea that I stole from mreed - thanks man. Oz came up with the idea of putting the switches inside the lever clamps instead of setting them in the bars. This will make them much easier to use, but it took a lot of fine machine work to get them to fit. Two switches on each side - turn signal and high/low beam on the left and turn signal and starter on the right. The horn button will be mounted on the top of the headlight or someplace else inconspicuous. I never use the horn anyway. The thing is embarassing.
For the internal wiring we're gonna run the wires and throttle cable through one of the riser bolts. Using a 3/4" Grade 8 bolt we drilled a hole completely through it, drilled the holes in the bars and welded the risers in place. We had the put the bolt in the lathe to get that hole in there. And we had to do it in stages because the bolt and bit would get really hot after a few minutes of drilling and we had to let it cool off. Grade 8 bolts are extremely tough metal.
You can't see it in these pics but Oz machined a flat spot on the front of the clamps where the switches come through so they mount flat. It was 3am by the time I blasted the bars and the clamps and threw a coat of paint on them. I used the texture black on the clamps thinking that might look good in contrast with the gloss black bars, same as the engine. But I don't know yet. I primed the bars and have to put the gloss black on them and then we'll see. If the texture black doesn't look good it'll take me ten minutes to blast that off and repaint them gloss or satin. I am anxious to get them painted and mounted. Hopefully sometime this week.
