Ya, didn't you get the memo? It's the time of year to slack off.

I've been tied up. My son-in-law is tied up. Real life keeps getting in the way. Not much progress the last couple of weeks. I'll get back to it soon. New bars should arrive on Thursday and I am anxious to see what they look like. If they work out I'll take pics. If they don't I'll send them back. I got the new/different axel and a new spacer from Vulcan a couple of days ago and got exactly one hour to stop by the shop tonight after work to try it out. The axel is the right size but I could not for the life of me get the spacing right. Not sure what the problem is, not sure if I have the right spacers and I didn't have time to really get into it. I was hoping it would have been a quick plug-and-play operation, but nooooo. It's gonna make me work.

Good tip about the clear nail polish swordy. Thanks.

You have the WG or mid glide Vulcan? I could measure mine if you need. (I forget if you are using a 16" wheel like mine or not)

I've got wide glide, same as you only black. The wheel is a 16" front wheel. I don't know off of what. But ya, if you could tell me what size your spacers are that might help. He only sent me one spacer with the new axel (about 1.75" - 2" long) and then I have the OEM spacers. I can't seem to get it spaced right with any of the various combinations. Thanks.

Here was the wheel when I first mocked it up with all spacers...I will take mine apart and send you all the measurements. My '07 used the 3/4" axle, but that should make no difference as to spacing...thinking yours is probably 25mm.

Thanks Rick. It appears that the single new spacer they sent me is about the same length as both of your spacers combined. I don't see how I can properly space the wheel with only one long spacer. I'll have to call them...

Yeah, send them that pic of my kit if it helps. (Longer spacer goes on the rotor side)

I'm not at the shop to do any measuring, and won't be for several days (real life getting in the way of this makeover), but, they must have originally sent me the 25mm axel and according to Ed from Vulcan when I talked to him a couple of weeks ago, the 07 Nightster was manufactured with two different sizes of axels (the 25mm and the 3/4") depending on when it rolled off the line that year. Mine has the smaller 3/4" axel, which according to Ed is more rare and therefore they assumed the larger 25mm axel when they originally shipped the kit to me. Ok, I'll buy that I guess. But if that's the case, won't I need 3/4" spacers, bearings and a new 3/4" rotor spacer to go with the new 3/4" axel? The 3/4" axel is going to float around inside 25mm bearings, no? All he sent me with the new 3/4" axel was one longish spacer, saying that's all I needed and everything else would work. I'm thinking all the 25mm parts need to be replaced with 3/4". Or am I missing something?

Yeah Ergo, you need 3/4" everything all the way for sure. Sounds like mis-communication/mis-information here...I remember now that it was Ed I heard that the '07 Nightster had a 25mm front axle. I have yet to hear from anyone on any forum that can confirm this tho...none of the parts manuals reflect this either as it shows only a 3/4" axle for all models. I too would like to get to the bottom of this mystery and where Ed came up with this info.

He also need to be aware of this thread... http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/s....php?t=1339140

EDIT: I think I told you wrong in a pm about the fork spring spacer length...mine is 7-7/8" long with 1-7/8" sticking out of the tube with them fully extended.
