Got a couple of hours in the shop today to play around with the tank placement. Mrreed was right, as usual. I do like the look of the tank sitting lower. The larger Nightster 3.3 gal tank looks more aggressive, beefier down low and more in keeping with the fat front end. I didn't really like it up in the air.
I also talked to Joe at Vulcan today about the front axel. He's sending me the right one...

The wiring definitely. The clutch, throttle and brake cable...I don't know about that. I haven't looked into it but I suspect it's a huge pita to do it. Perhaps more trouble than it's worth. I don't know. Something (else) to think about. Thanks Voony.

It actually looks better in person. The pics just don't do it justice. And the *** end is higher than it will be when it's done due to the rear tank bracket. I'm gonna cut that off and redo it so both the front and rear are sitting right on the frame. And those front tank mounts will go away as well and clean up the area around the steering head.
Thanks for the suggestion Mike.
