Like the progress!

 

So I chopped the rear fender using a hand grinder with a cut off wheel.




I wanted to take as much as I could as still keep the 2-up capability, which meant I had to leave the support bracket that runs from the rear strut mounts up under the rear of the fender. The cut runs just outside that bracket about a quarter of an inch.


I did have to take a small bit off of that support bracket. On either side there is a small **** that has to be cut off. I don't believe that has any structural significance, I just rounded it off.



Finished it up with a grinder, the belt sander and some sand paper. It's going to get repainted later on.



Lastly, I just purchased a new solo seat from Mother Road Customs. I got the antique orange 10x13" seat and I really love it. Seems to fit just right in the space just in front of the stock seat mounting bolt and despite what it looks like in the pics, the orange on the seat matches the orange paint perfectly. Must be some kind of light absorbtion issue in these pictures. The seat is just sitting there for now. I'll have to fab up a mounting system.




And here it is with the 2-up configuration.




It obviously needs new bars, which is going to be the last major expenditure I make. Last one. Really. I already bought the Oberon bar end turn signals that I'm gonna use to eliminate the outrigger signals. Plan is to buy a 6" LED light bar to mount just under the rear fender for brake and running light. Ok, THAT will be the last purchase...


They flash to both front and rear so they replace both front and rear stock signals.

Cool Ergo! I know it's a relief when you finally get the wheels back on...begins to resemble a bike again lol. That work you did on the neck really stands out now. Where did you get those foot rests on your forwards?

 

Hey man, that's the stock Nightster solo with the HD passenger seat. I've said all along that I gotta keep the 2-up capability and the old lady won't go for one of those little pillion pad things. She's good with this set up and I'm good with being able to take it on and off in about two minutes.

Got those from Kevin at DK Customs. They're the bulletproof pegs and they're very well made.


I got two sets, one for up front and the other for passenger. I mainly got them because my wife's little feet kept sliding around on pegs and she was melting the soles of her boots all over the heat shields. I figured these would stop that. And I wanted the front to match the passenger's. I like em a lot but they are big, and I'm not sure that they are gonna work up front with the bike sitting as low as it is. They extend way out there and I'm afraid they may scrape pretty regular in the corners. I might have to return one set and exchange them for something smaller that sit closer in. For passenger they will work fine.

 

With your machining ability it looks like there may be enough meat there to re-drill and bring them in about a 1/4-1/2", maybe more, hard to tell from pics.
