Default SE Slip-ons and SE Stage 1 A/C question.

I have an 07 Sportster Custom and I would like to add some SE Slip-ons and an SE Stage 1 air filter system. If I do this, will I need to have a remap AND a dyno tune?

You don't need to do the dyno tuning. If you buy a tuner like the Dynojet Powervision you can log while you're riding and learn to tune it yourself.

There is a sticky thread on XL Forums where a bunch of us have done it, or are in the process of doing it.

If you do not want to spend the money on a tuner right now, you can put the pipes, AC and Xieds on your bike to richen your fuel mix. Alot of people on here have had good results with Xieds.

There are tons of cheaper options for tuning such as the Xieds, Fuelpak, Power Commander and so on and so on. Your best bet is to spend a few weeks wondering around older threads on this subject here and getting on sites such as J&P cycles or Dennis Kirk and looking at all the tuners they have that do not require a dyno.

It depends on if someone actually wants to tune. None of those are tuners.

You don't need to re-tune if it's fuel injected. The system will compensate for the added air. Now you will WANT to re-tune simply because these bikes are set lean from the factory and run very hot. Adding fuel will cool the engine adding longevity. You don't have to tune it tho

As far as I know the PC and the Fuelpak just piggy back the ECM. You can't make changes to maps and reflash the ECM. You may have a different definition of what tuning is than I do however. To me tuning is done on a laptop.

I don't believe the Sportster system can compensate enough. I have never heard of not re-mapping the ECM with Stage 1 upgrades. If you didn't and had issues you'd be SOL for warranty work.
