If you have a Harley filter that is not one on the above, it's not a 30 micron.
This is 100% right! Filters are one thing Harley did right.

At least you won't have to worry about it all night.
I've had more than one Harley dealer try to sell me the wrong p/n filter.

I have one of those in my garage now. I told them my bike is XL1200R and they sold me a filter ... months later when changing oil I found out it's a wrong one. You just cannot trust those dudes. Have a part # when you go shopping with them.

well i would hope if the engine is having any oil probelms then the dummy light wold come on. I didn;t know about this MIcron thing, I just changed my oil last week and I already threw the box out so I cant check the part number, I just hope the dealer gave me the right one. If the dealer cant even give you the correct oil filter they are pretty worthless.

You may have correct filter ... but the light will not come on if it's a wrong one and sales associates at HD counter are often pretty incompetent, have experienced it more than once.

There is an exception, On page 790 of the 2012 HD catalog, it says under the Super Premium filter that

Super Premium Filter #63798-99A or 63731-99A can be used as an upgrade in place of filter 63805-80A

So, I'm pretty confiedent that I got a good filter then since I bought the super premium.

Yea, I know what the catalog says. But because the EVO motor work on oil flow and not oil pressure, tests have shown that the filter will spend a lot of time in the bypass mode.

But it's still a free country and your choice.

5 Micron is very small and that filter is likely very restrictive.

Wix makes a very good filter for Sportys
