New front rim, what size tire?
Hello all. Still very new here. I just won this rim off ebay......... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting
It's 19", so my question is, does anybody know what the biggest size tire I could use? I will still be using stock front fender, and it's an 04, if that even matters. Thank you.

RE: New front rim, what size tire?
Freak: You can put on a 90/90, a 100/90 or a 110/90 X 19 inch. dia. wheel.
The 90/90 is standard replacement.
The 100/90 is slightly wider, but will fit between the fender bolts if you install it on the bike while deflated.
The 110/90 will barely fit within the fender with about 1/16 inch. clearance on each side. To mount it you will have to remove the fender and then reinstall the fender after the tire/wheel is in place. I have a Metzeler 110/90 mounted on my XL 1200 R. It is on a 2.5 inch wide rim. You didn't say and the ad doesn't say how wide that wheel is.
Before having any tire mounted on that new rim, you might want to install the rim only in the forks and put the brake caliper back into place to make sure there is no interference with the spokes. It would be very trying to mount a new tire and then find out that you can't use the rim because of interference with the spokes.
You will need a 10 mm-12 point socket to remove the brake calipers. .............. BC

RE: New front rim, what size tire?
Freak: I just realized that you had the part number in the original eBay ad. I looked that up in an older H-D Accessory Catalog and found that it was originally for an '04 Dyna "not wide glide". The H-D specs for that bike call for an 100/90-19 57H front tire. Given that, I would bet that this rim is a 2.5 inch wide rim and not a 2.15 inch. Perhaps one of the Dyna riders could verify that for you tonight. Just post the question in the Dyna section of this forum. For some reason or another, the H-D book nor the H-D specs on the '04 Dyna call out the width of that front rim in 19 inch. Anyhow, if H-D will only install the OEM tire size, you can get a 100/90 without a problem. I would recommend that size on your Sportster. Just tell them (H-D) that you are putting this wheel on a Dyna and do not tell them that it is going on a Sportster. ....... BC

RE: New front rim, what size tire?
I been want to change the front wheel to a 19" but havn't found one that I really like or want to spend yet. looking around on different web sights everybody says it could be done but you would have to check you bearing size. you may have to get the right bearing for for that wheel.
good luck.
good luck.
