Follow that wire under the bike on the right side, behind the frame just past the right foot peg there is a connector

+1....goes to your neutral switch behind the sprocket cover. As Barry said...there is a connector under the frame near the mid-frame on the throttle side.

Can I unplug it without removing anything?

I had to remove my sprocket cover, my wire was solid all the way up to the connection behind the cover. I cut the ties followed it up and removed it using a ninety degree needle nose plier (very small pair). It's a bear but I thought I can't let it go take your time and do it right.

Wow... poor engineering... I don't want to remove the pipes, then the sprocket cover to unplug a simple wire !

I was able to remove my cover without taking the exhaust off. But I have a Bassani exhaust what are you using?

Sometimes taking no mechanical shortcuts is what it takes.

Just perhaps you can loosen the pipes to get clearance to remove the sprocket cover?

Also since you are modding...perhaps update the style/shape of the sprocket cover at that time?
