Default What type of Spark Plugs??

According to the service manual, it's time for new plugs. Although they look fine, I guess I'll follow the book and replace them. Anybody have a good experience with plugs other than just the same plugs that came with the bike?? Especially keeping in mind, I just completed the Stage 1 upgrade. Oh, the bike is an 06 883, if that would make a difference.

The "Harley Davidson" branded plugs are made by Champion...

That being said, I've used Champion plugs 'forever', and never had a lick of trouble with them.

Anyway, most of the time I use the Champion RA8HC (810's) or the HD 6R12 plugs.

I can't see paying more for the newest "whiz bang" super duper offerings when the HD or regular Champions work perfectly in all weather conditions.

I normally change plugs every 5,000 or so miles. Might be more frequently than needed, but for only $4.00 or so a set it's not going to break the bank. LoL..

plugs are like the oil - you go with what you are most comfortable with - a local INDY set me up with NGK's - said he swears by um - I do too - much better than swearing at them

You can NEVER go wrong installing OEM equipment. If your H-D dealership is a trip or something like that, probably Champion and nothing else. Soon as you go into a parts store, some dumb young one will try and sell you a pair of NGK's or something that may or may not be good for your set-up and gas mileage. .02 Dave

Distance to the HD dealership isn't an issue. Closest one is 10 minutes away, and I have 5 within a 45 minute ride. Once again, I'm with OFG on this one, thanks for the Champion plug number!!! I knew Champion made the plugs for HD, just didn't know the plug number. I'm pretty certain I can buy the same plug at an autoparts store with Champion stamped on the plug, than at the stealer with the HD logo on the plug. Hell, I've put some of those chrome covers over the spark plugs, you can't even see the plug on my bike anyway. I don't care if the freekin thing is green and says "Kiss my ***" on it.

Humm...come to think of it, that might be cool.

i used the h-d "golds" with a little anti-sieze lube. only because the oem plugs chatter alittle going in and out. for a buck more i don't worry about my heads. i changed at 5000 instead of the 10000 just because it's cheap. with stage 1 i see no difference on the plugs, so i figure the heat range is still ok. if not, everyone would be making that a part of the stage 1 upgrade.
