Default Preferred synthetic lube?

Is there a preferred brand, weight, and amount of motor / primary lube other than the HD stuff? It's for a 1200 that will have intake, exhaust, cams, and tuning...run fairly aggressively at times from 45-105 deg. F. For vehicular driveline stuff I always use Royal Purple, and Motorcraft Synth-Blend in the crankcase, but in 2 / 4 stroke dirtbikes I have always run Castrol Syntec 10w40 because it doesn't have moly in it that trashes the clutches.

I've read some about Mobil-1 V-Twin? Is that for both sides? What weight(s)? I know the manual calls for diesel spec lube. What's that all about?

Brand names are pretty much a personal preference... for the average person who rides their bike in an average way... they will never tell the difference between any brands...

I always use Mobil 1, but again a personal preference.
I had purple in my bike for a while because it was what ran in my car.. and i noticed Zero difference between purple and mobil in the bike.

Popcorn, anyone???

A search on this site will reveal thousands of posts on this subject, as well as at least one poll, where Amzoil is the favorite by a small but significant margin.

...Amzoil for me...

When we discuss oils our sentiments pretty much fall on deaf ears as we use what we use and seldom change our minds. I settled on RevTec 25w60 dino oil as it seemed to soften my engine noise. I run Harley's Formula+ in the primary simply for compatibility the alternator coil insulation. That may be a stretch but the wrong oil could ruin it.

Amsoil for engine.
Red Line 80W for gearbox.

If you seek performance boost then switching from one good oil to another will not make any difference. Best of the best oil may offer a little better tear and wear protection, though, in particular if you ride it hard.

Cool oils

Talking to the service writer at the selling dealer that I used to go to for maintenance, I told him not to change any ot the 3 oils because I'm trying different brands in the primary and trans to try and obtain ease of gear changes and location of neutral. Staying with Mobil 1 V Twin 20 w 50 in motor. He informed me I had voided my warranty including the extended portion and started entering something on his computer. I axed if that refered to my warranty and he said that information needed to be recorded for future reference. I axed him if he ever heard of Magnason - Moss 1975 & he started looking around me as if looking for a someone else. Have posted names and detailed info elswhere about this dealer I used to go to.
