My 883 seems like a luxury tourer in comparison with my 82 Honda 750 Sabre. Just isn't as fast. Maybe I should sell both of them and get a 1200... I do have something more comfortable (and longer, that's just weird) than the Sporty, but it's for hauling groceries, for making people giggle, and only has a 250 cc engine. Are we allowed to use the word sc**ter here?

I had a 2011 883 sportster and I hated it. The wind practically blew it off the highway like a piece of paper. One day I was riding home in a hard side wind leaning into it like an idiot, when this chick passed by me on a real Harley (ie dyna or soft tail etc.) sitting straight up un effected by the wind. I traded it for the dyna street bob and now the wind doesnt even exist to me. It rides in the rain like a champ too. It would be a bad thing to put a girl on a sportster.

I'd almost bet that never happens to you again. Only time I ever got blown out of my lane was by a helicopter about 45 years ago, and it never happened again. I've found bikes to handle winds better than most cars, but everything has it's limits. And a lot of girls like bad things...
Yeah, makes you wanna run out and buy a Dyna right away don't it?
It's always windier than crap here in Minnesota and I ride every day during the season. The wind is something you learn to ride in and of course the inexperienced rider would get spooked, maybe to the point of blaming the bike instead of the rider.
Both of my Sporsters handle the wind just fine and it wouldn't make a difference if you were riding a Dyna or a Goldwing, you have to learn to ride in it cause it affects all bikes, not just the girlie Sportster.
Hey Old, where are you? I'm in the southwestern corner of the state.
