Question Removed belt cover?

I pulled the upper / lower belt guards as well as the cover over the front sprocket. Is there any danger in doing this other than stuff getting caught up in the works? I didn't see where the belt is held on up front, just the rear, but I don't see where the sprocket cover offers much if anything other than where the belt has rubbed it a few times on the top side.
