Default Brake lights are constantly illuminated.

Whats going on everyone?!

As I was riding with a buddy of mine he noticed that my brake lights were not working. After I took a look I noticed that the lights are staying constantly illuminated even when I am not applying the brakes. The filament on one of the bulbs burnt out and attached to the other filament, which I am guessing could have caused a short some where. Where are the brake switches located (2009 Iron)?

Any feed back would be appreciated.

If you have changed bars or something recently, the switch plunger may have been broken off for the front brake handle. It is very small and fragile.

Yep. If for any reason you have opened up the right side handlebar switch housing, very likely the brake switch was broken. If you didn't place a small piece of cardboard between the front brake lever and the base, it's pretty much certain the brake switch was broken.

You are most likely going to need the service manual. If you had the service manual to begin with, you wouldn't have broken the switch. Not trying to be a smart ***, that's just the truth.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a bee caught between the front brake lever & the housing not allowing the lever to return fully.

I have opened up the housing. I installed drag bars recently. I do not have a service manual, probably should pick one up though... Where is exactly is this little brake switch located? I did not notice any switches when I opened up the housing.

Squeeze the front brake lever and look into the housing, you will see where the lever contacts a bit of rubber when released, the switch plunger is behind there, you can use a flat blade screwdriver to press on the rubber and should feel a spring loaded plunger action.

Well that didn't answer any part of my question. I have the service manual but this problem was there when I bought the bike.

So Back to original question: How does one fix this?

this is what I found in my manual and it says I must replace it?

Seems pretty clear to me. It says to replace it, right?
