Seat Marks on Fender

Seat Marks on Fender
I am going to be installing a spring style solo seat on my 2012 883 Iron, but right now there are "polished" spots or rub marks on the fender from the stock seat...black denim paint.
These will be exsposed when I install the new seat, any suggestions on getting rid of them?
They are surface marks only, not through the paint.
Thanks

yup- you were right... the only possible fix would be to polish it out. a compound (probably machined on) that you work the heck out of, followed by "stepping down" in levels of polish would be the way to go. if its not into the paint you can improve or correct it. if its into the paint (or clearcoat) then you might make it a bit better but wont be able to get it new.
before you chop, you can always repaint (if polishes dont do it)!

I have the same problem. I plan to chop that end of the fender off and roll it forward then cut off rear section of the frame and move the tail lights forward. Re-location the ECM will be necessary though. If you are interested, you can find some threads with a "how to" description around here somewhere.

I'd be careful w/the 'denim' paint. My understanding on the denim paint is it's suppose to 'wear', or fade, like a pair of pants over time. If you use a polish or rubbing compound then your just speeding up that process & it's going to be really faded & there's no going back from that. I'd really ask HD on this one.

how about using a light coat of matching ColorRite Black Denim spray paint?... it is not cheap, but if you want to maintain your Denim paint looking good, then you better have something around to touch-up the paint .. you can scratch up the Denim finish if you look at it hard enough.. :-) ... I remember doing this (re-coating an small area with ColorRite) a loong time ago and it worked fine...
