Nice speach...
So when I put the PC5 on my bike and it ran cooler, with a lot more power, smoother at all RPM's and much better driveability that was just an old-wives tale? I just imagined it all? my bike is lying to me?
And the other recent posters that reported that the XIED's made a "big difference"...those bikes are all in on the conspiracy too?

I think you need to re-read the question. He didn't ask if his bike would perform better, just if he needed to do it.

I read that "speach" before on that site too and they are right, but I can tell you this. Then I installed the martin bro's pipes on my bike I had a new stock air filter in the stock AC box, HD download and the pipes with the baffles in them at the time-I now have no baffles. Anyways the front pipes would glow red after a few min of running-not good so I got the SE stage I AC and a PCIII, ran just about all the canned maps and the pipe was still glowing, even the rear one was glowing at one point. So I tuned it rich with my laptop and rode it to the dealer to get a dyno tune. Ever since that the the pipes do not glow no matter what, the bike runs crazy strong and the oil temp is cooler.
So do you have to get a re-map NO!, but will it make the bike run and perform better YES!

I too have had the glowing pipe syndrome when I put true duals on my 04 Springer, really freaks you out. But it did not have O 2 sensors, it was running a fixed value map. Tried all the add on fuel modules and wound up going with a Sert.
Really glad Harley went with the o2 sensors to help keep the mixture in the target range, yes it is a bit lean and I do plan on getting it remapped someday but as for now it's fine.
Funny story, I was at my dealer the other day and the owner was checking out my bike, told me I needed to get a free flowing air cleaner.
I told him I had a K&N inside the stock housing for now.
His reply... Then you need to get a hole saw, punch some holes in th back side and let it get some air... I about fell over!

Wow, glowing pipes. Haven't seen anything like that. But I believe I am runnin' a bit lean. Pulled the plugs yesterday when I got home from work and they ain't exactly white but they far from it either - I'd call it a light antique white, not sure if I like that. Oil temp was about 190 which I guess is about average?
