a local dealer here in MD had a new 2010 or 2011 883 nightster on clearnace for $7900 a few weeks ago. It was a good looking cycle but it was just too small for me. It didn't last long at that price but that gives you an idea of what can be done.

883 Iron or a 1200 Nightster?
If it was an 883 for $7900, then the $99 off MSRP isn't all that good of a sale.
If it was an Nightster, which is a 1200, then it was a decent deal there!

That's a $2,500 difference with a quick phone call.
Just make sure they do not try to make up the difference with a bunch of add on $h*t you do not need that they can carry to the bottom line as pure profit. There are a ton of bikes for sale out there esp. in this area that have a ton of maintenance plan crap that has not been used and probably never will be. Pure profit up front for the dealer. They figure $$$ in their hands rather than yours is a great deal for them.
Be cautious of any used bike prices from these same dealers. I shopped used bikes across the board with them before buying used from private party. They were all $2000-$3000 higher for the same bike/accy as the private.
Recommend getting one near stock if you buy used. No sense buying someone elses extras/mistakes that they are trying to dump at near retail on their used.
