Going to promote the used thing too. I paid $5,800 formy 2007 Nightster a year and a half ago. Came with about $1500 in add ons and less than 2,800 miles. Been a great and trouble free bike.

I personally don't like buying used, especially bikes but thats me. I was looking at 2012 irons and one dealer in saskatoon said it would be 8779+800 frieght/pdi and then just tax, which isn't bad. A dealer here in edmonton listed it as 10,400 something all in. So yes you paying that much is ridiculous. I'm in Canada btw. Eh

Default You have cash...buy used!!!!!!!

I paid $6200 for a 08 Nightster with 1800 miles on the clock. It was as new. Shoot man do not get in a hurry it is a buyers market on used sportys, enjoy the search!! If you just have to get a new unit find another dealer...that guy is a Pirate. You likely will continue to get screwed on service and parts with a dealer like that.

I expected that the dealer would add their own misc admin fees above the MSRP to pad their profit. I was just surprised that they immediately dismissed MSRP and went straight to market-demand pricing. The funny thing was that they could see that they overplayed their hand as I was getting up. Then they went to "We can adjust the price. I'd rather see a bike in your garage than my showroom. These bikes don't taste good boiled." etc.

As for used, there is another local dealer that posts their asking prices and they usually have a few low-mile Sportsters. I guess as long as it has the factory warranty, I should be fine. I don't feel comfortable purchasing from a private party.

I got my 11 48 in June for under MSRP OTD. Dealer covered the freight, prep and Va. sales tax. Plus 2 t shirts, first service free ($250), and 15% 0ff parts! Now that the 12s are out you should be able to get a much better deal. Especially if you have multiple dealers close.

I would have bought used but couldnt find many used 48s. The ones I saw werent much cheaper than new...

I was in our local Harley dealership this Sat 10/8 there having a "sale" a brand new 2011 Black Nightster 9,500 , Im sure there would be a couple add ons but still just shows that price was high. I would defiantly take my dollars someplace else.
sounds to me like there in trouble financially and trying to take advantage of people

I bought my 11 Superlow last year at the end of Oct. The salesman needed the numbers so I was glad to help him out.

Another dealership offered me a 2 up seat and 1 Rider's Edge class. This dealer went 400 below the 1st guy's price but I had to take the orange/white unit which was what he had on the floor. IIRC, Two Tone is more expensive than single color. Also, I "remembered" that the first guy offered me 2 Rider's Edge classes and a 2 up seat and got an engine guard.
