Man This Brings Back Memories ~ "72 FX"
Happened to notice this 'all original 1972 1200 FX SuperGlide' on EBay, and it really brings back memories....

Back in '72 I was with a MC back in the Philadelphia area, and the first "Brand New" Harley I ever purchased was a 1972 1200 FX SuperGlide, identical to the one in the EBay Auction except for the color.
Four or five local guys I rode with all purchased the '72 FX models, and they were great bikes. We rode them across country numerous times, rain, shine, snow, sleet, and whatever else came our way. LoL....
About the only changes most of us did was to add 4" over tubes, and a guy in Chadds Ford, PA, fabricated and chromed forward controls.
Wish I would have kept that bike.

ORIGINAL: nywarthog
Yeah, I had one, a hi-fi green color. It was a leftover from Brooklyn HD and I got it new in '73 for dealer cost $1800+ 'cause I worked at Brewster Harley in NY then. Kinda wish I still had it, kick start only with the upside down shift.

Mine was reddish, and even though it was "kick only" it always fired right up. Use to ride that bike in some conditions that would make me cringe today. LoL.. That ole '72 was a real workhorse....
Those were the days (I think)....

There's a lot of old "survivor" bikes out there. I bought my '77 XLH from a guy that had it stored in his spared bedroom with only 11k on the clock. I got everything with it but the two-into-one header and factory seat. One pic is how it looked when I got it. The other is how it looks with a few minor changes. I only gave 2500 bucks for it.
I have a buddy that has two '84 XR1000's. One he modded for racing years ago. The other is all original. I think it has about 9k on it.

I currently own a 72 FX, stock except the mid 70s disk brake front end. It sure isn't worth 12,000, but it's not quite as fine of an example as the sellers.
It's interesting that the specs claim a weight of around 550 lbs., about the same as a current sportster.
