My engine guard and pegs were for comfort. To let me stretch out on longer trips. I love them.

My set up looks similar to what you pictured. I have the H-D Chrome engine guard (also available in black) http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US and and the Billet Engine Guard Footpeg Mounting Kit, http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US, which are also available in black.

Default .........

Also what is better, highway bars with integral foot pegs (pic) or regular highway bars
with separate pegs like the pic in my first post.

I didn't go with the integral because I couldn't set the highway "pegs" where I wanted them, both for comfort and to adjust for my forward controls. I have long legs and needed to adjust the position of my highway pegs once after I rode them a while. Not an option with the integral set up.

Mine came with the bars, and they are comfortable... for me. I agree with what has been stated though, get the pegs and set them where you want.
