Default Probably beaten to death but.......... Burly 14" apes

I have an '11 48 & I'm wanting 14" Burly narrow apes. I'm 5'9" w/kinda short arms & I think the 14's will have my hands just above level w/my shoulders(that's what I'm hoping). I've read people complain that the 14" wiring kit is too long. Should I go w/the 12" wiring kit for 14" apes? Also, are there cheaper wire kits/sets out there? Thanks.

*****Finally got around to doing this & I thought I'd update this for people in the future. On my 48 the 12" Burly extended kit worked just fine w/14" Burly narrow apes. Clutch cable is still way too long!!! HTH somebody.

I find the Burly kits are too long. I bought the 12" kit for my 12" bars and as you can see everything is pretty long.

I bought the burley kit 0610-0271 for my 14" burley bars and I think it is just right on mine. Also I will say this, I added the extensions to the wires before I ran them through the bars only to find out that the stock wires will go through the bars and hang out about 2". Then you can add the wire extensions. It was much easier that way. The first time I tried it I pulled a couple of the extensions loose running the wires inside the bars .

I ordered a complete kit so 14'' bars with 14'' cables. Cables are way too long. I kept the stock throttle cables and only used the clutch and brake line. The stock clutch cable almost fit so I'm guessing the 12'' cable would of been more than enough.

I can't find that part # on their site. Sounds like I just need the clutch & brake cable for 12" apes, no throttle cable. Maybe they are too long because we don't have factory risers???? Who makes good clutch and brake cables? Makes no sense for me to buy the Burly 'kit' when I can use the factory throttle cable.

This is where I bought them, the part number I gave you was off the box, must have been the sellers#

You could be right about the riser, mine measure 2" from the top of the tree to the center of the bar.

I can get a Burly 14" clutch cable, in like new condition, for $40 but I've read a lot of people have been having a 'binding' problem w/the Burly 14" clutch cable. Have you used this cable w/out any problems? Is this a good price? Thanks.

Had 14" Burly's with the 14" kit and switched out to 16" bars but didn't change the cable kit. Fits just fine with the 16's so it does seem the Burly cable kits give you plenty enough length.
