Default Shinko E270s

Got my new tires last night, took em down and had them put on today, painted the rear pulley while everything was off, re-installed everything, which was a little tougher than taking it all apart and took it for a little test ride.

I can honestly say that within about 10 feet I could tell a huge difference in the way these ride compared to the dunlops. Not better, not worse just vastly different. It'll take some getting used to. I need to go down Monday and have the dyna beads put in and the spoke weights removed, but it'll do for now since I don't need to make any longs trips on the bike.

What do you all think of the look now?

can you describe how the tires feel different? I need new tires and am thinking of doing something different besides the same stock dunlops.

I like them. I get around 3500 miles out of my Shinko 240's...I heard the 270 Classics last a bit longer.

Your bike looks stubby with that tank. Why is the rear lifted?

3500 miles? Geezz.. that's not a lot for a tire on a non-sports bike, is it? I have 24000 on my dunlop front tire and over 12,000 on my rear. They have just a TINY bit of life left, but should be replaced next week.

Yeah, that's not much at all but I have them on bikes I don't ride very often.

MReed,

The reason the rear of the tank is lifted is because of the LePera BareBones seat. When I did the front lift, it canted the rear enough that the tank wouldn't match up with the mounting holes in the rear and the seat nose was just a little bit to much forward with the seat locked in place. I must have wrestled with that seat for an hour before I realized it was the tanks angle causing me grief. So until I either A) hardtail the bike or B) put a solo seat on it I have come up with a 80% solution.

Wrenched my back today working out at work but I still pushed her outside for a moment to get some other photos. On the next nice day (probably tomorrow) I'll try to get some nicer photos.

Oh, and it's a wideglide front end that was on the bike when I bought it, pretty sure I've seen it on eGay. Gonna PC the trees and fork lowers a satin black soon.

Great looking bike. I think the tires fit the look of your bike. They look very old school, kinda hot rod.
