I started with a Harley 1/2, very comfortable. It didnt give me balloon head, it gave me freakin blimp head and I would get helmet lift with a brisk walk. Then I went to an Outlaw carbon fiber, easily the most uncomfortable helmet Ive ever worn. Much smaller though I learned later I got a larger version, they quit making the smaller version. Id get helmet lift above 55 but could minimize it by cinching down on the VERY narrow strap which added to the discomfort. With both of those helmets I would wear ear plugs on any rides over 1/2 hour. Not because of wind noise but because the wind itself gave me ear aches. With ear plugs above 55 all I heard was wind noise, couldnt hear the bike even with my V&H short shots.

It started getting cooler so I wanted to try a 3/4. Went with the Licks novdot. They didnt have matt black in my size so went with gloss. Your right, their keeping the customer abreast of order status department sucks and I dont think they keep enough inventory on hand. After 2 weeks I gave them a call. Their people are very nice and helpful, just so happens my order was shipping that day.

They helmet is a little bubble headish but so is my actual head, Im 5'8" and got an XL. Ill take some pics latter today. VERY comfortable, VERY light. Blocks out 75% of the wind noise. I can actually hear my bike at all speeds now. The argument of only no helmet or 1/2 helmet for me cause I wanna hear my bike falls flat on its face...........for me anyway. Hopefully it wont be too hot in the summer cause Id like to wear it all year.

they're definitely less bobble-head-ish than a Bell 500, and quite a bit less. and I like the Bell 500s (top notch quality and finish, comfortable, etc), I own one too, but damn if it doesn't look gigantic while wearing it.

I forget who actually makes the NovDOTs for Licks, but it's been discussed (a lot) either here or on XL forums or on Chop Cult or in all three, and there are a few threads around that talk about these helmets for pages and pages, with a few comparison shots folks have uploaded.

search around some.

all in all, IME, Licks are good people with good products at good prices with so-so communication, and the NovDOT helmets are basically as small and light as you can get in a 3/4 that's DOT certified.

I have a Fulmer V2 and my brother has the Licks Novdot. We both wear size medium so I tried his on to compare it to the V2. It's definitely slimmer and a little lighter, but doesn't come down as low on the brow as the V2. That said, it didn't look that much better to convince me to spend the money on it. But it will probably be my next helmet.

Oh, and I've got a Rockhard American Classic that I just received yesterday. I like it. Its a little bulbous looking, but its a cool lid. I'm definitely glad I bought it.
