Default Removing Front Tire Problems

Has anyone ran into any issues removing the axle for their front tire?
I've got an 89 sportster that I'm trying to remove the front tire to take the rotor off and the axle will not go through the forks.
I've beat the snot out of it.
I've loosened / removed all bolts and I got nothing
Anyone ran into this problem and has a quick fix for me
I'd appreciate it

How long has it been since the axle was last removed?
If it's been a long time and if the axle was not coated with anti-seize or grease the last time it was removed, the axle may be seized (rusted) to the bearings.

You can try spraying the axle around the bearings with something like PB Blaster and let it soak overnight. The go at it again with a bigger hammer.

i couldn't say how long it's been since it's been removed - picked up the bike a month ago
i get it hammered out an inch or so then it just stops
i don't want to compromise the threaded axle end by beating it too hard

+1 on the PB Blaster, I use Marvel Mystery Oil for everything, If you have any take a syringe and squirt a little on both sides on the fork lowers inside & out, then after it sets take a block of wood and put it on your axle and then hit it with the hammer the wood won't ruin your threads. Best Wishes. -Joe

I beat on a rear axle so hard it split. I tried PB Blaster, Mopar Rust Penetrant, ATF, 3in1, WD40 - everything I had in the shop. I replaced the axle and the wheel bearings. Cost me a good 100 bucks. Damn MoCo can't use 2 cents worth of anti-sieze. WTF
